Does Healthcare Really Lag Other Industries?

Like many others, I have often made the comment that the health sector lags other industries in terms of the use of information technology.  Hence, I was intrigued to read an alternative viewpoint.   Russ Branzell, CIO, Poudre Valley Health System, suggests that “in many cases healthcare organizations in the United States are often better at innovative IT adoption / utilization than Fortune 500 or even Fortune 100 companies“.

What do you think about Mr. Branzell’s perspective?  Can we say that same about Canadian healthcare organizations?
